Pad print transfers ink onto the mug using a silicone pad lifted from a laser etched plate. It handles the curved, tapered shape well and reproduces sharp logos and clean text with detail as fine as 0.4mm. Because the mug has a white surface, close PMS colour matches are achievable and several spot colours can be printed in register. Halftones and gradients are not consistently reproduced, and variable data such as individual names is not available. Each colour requires its own setup charge. The branding area is 45mm x 45mm on one side.
